Summary of the event in Arabic

The symposium, “The Japanese Stock market: Lesson for Saudi Investors”, held on Tuesday, 15 May 2007 at the PSU Auditorium was a huge success.

Approximately 700 people participated in the symposium. The auditorium, with a capacity of 500, was completely filled and those who could not get a seat in the auditorium were relocated to the gymnasium where they watched the proceedings on a big screen television. HH Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammed Bin Ayaf Al Mogren, Mayor of Riyadh graced the occasion and the guest of honor was the Japanese Ambassador HE Shigeru Nakamura who delivered a short speech. The University Rector Dr. Ahmed Al Yamani addressed the gathering and gave a detail view of about the background of the event and PSU’s desire to reach out to the community.

Presentations were given by Mr. Hajime Takata, Chief Strategist, Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd, Mr. Yuichi Chiguchi, Chief Fund Manager, DLIBJ Asset Management Co., Ltd, and Mr. Mohammed Al Shemrani, Board member, Capital Market Authority, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Hajime Takata’s talk was entitled “Events since the Japanese Bubble Burst & Implications for the Capital Markets”.
Mr. Yuichi Chiguchi spoke on the Japan’s Equity Market Outlook. And Mr. Mohammed Al-Shemrani talked about the Saudi Stock Market Experience. All the speakers and their topics were well received by the audience as evidenced by the active question and answer sessions which followed the presentations.
