Introduction
In pursuit of its commitment to provide the best
quality education in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia, Prince Sultan University (PSU) created
the Academic Assessment and Planning Center (AAPC)
in September 2005. Having a critical role in
carrying out PSU’s mission, the AAPC is tasked
to undertake continuous quality assurance
processes. These processes include the conduct
of periodic quality evaluation of both academic
and non-academic concerns and to lead the
formulation of long-term and short-term
institutional plans to ensure that the academic
programs and their support infrastructure, as
well as the administrative procedures, meet the
highest standards.
AAPC Vision Statement
The Academic Assessment and Planning Center
envisions institutional success and excellence
in academic and administrative programs,
functions, support infrastructure and services
of Prince Sultan University.
AAPC Mission Statement
The mission of the Academic Assessment and
Planning Center is to ensure that the system of
education at Prince Sultan University meets the
highest quality standards. To achieve this, the
Center shall lead and coordinate effective and
efficient institutional planning and management
of internal and external quality assurance
programs and processes.
Functions of AAPC
To establish procedures for planning, promoting,
implementing, coordinating and monitoring the
effectiveness of the university’s internal
quality processes.
To provide advice on institution-wide priorities
and strategies for quality improvement.
To help organizational units in the development
of quality improvement strategies within their
own areas that will be embodied in both their
short-term and long-term strategic plans.
To assist in the establishment of the strategic
direction of the university.
To generate commitment from the academic
departments and administrative units in the
implementation of PSU’s strategic direction.
To lead and coordinate the preparation of
periodic self-studies to be used for periodic
external reviews.
To establish & monitor self-assessment and
evaluation processes including report
requirements.
To conduct periodic academic and administrative
performance assessment of the faculty, staff and
administrators of PSU.
To share and disseminate information about
standards of good practice with academic and
non- academic departments throughout the
university.
To maintain systematic collection of data and
reports on performances including data of
indicators and benchmarks.
To process statistical information derived from
university-wide operations; to generate relevant
reports that will serve as both tools for
improvement and the basis for sound planning and
decision making.
To liaison with the National Commission for
Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA)
regarding PSU’s quality assurance and
accreditation process.

AAPC Directorate
The Office of the AAPC is composed of a director
and two (2) assistant directors. There are also
three organized committees: the Quality
Assurance and Improvement Committee (QAIC); the
Institutional Planning Committee (IPC); and the
Assessment and Statistical Committee (ASC).
