Communication & Networks Eng
Introduction
We all have witnessed the communication and networks revolution that
has touched on the quality of life of all over the globe the past two decades.
Advances in the communication and networks are not only rapidly developing, they
are also becoming part of the fabric of life throughout the world.
The demand for engineers well qualified in communication and networks is
tremendous and the market growth is expected to continue in the foreseen future
as societies and governments become dependent on technology in general and on
communication and networks in particular.
The Department of Communications and Networks at PSU offers students the
opportunity to develop their knowledge and technical skills in this field and
with emphases on creativity and innovation. The program prepares students to
become self learners and to pursue higher education in this rapidly advancing
field.
The department strives to work closely with the local community and to
establish cooperative and research links with the communication and networks
industries in the country.
The Communication and Networks Engineering Department offers students the
choice of two tracks to follow based their interests and personal objectives.
These specialization tracks are:
1. Communication Engineering
2. Networks Engineering
A Bachelor of Science (BS) in Communication and Networks Engineering is awarded
upon successful completion of 138 credit hours. There are 126 credits of common
course work to both tracks. Students are required to take 12 credits of
technical electives in their respective tracks.
Vision:Our vision is to be among the leading institutions in the Communications and
Network disciplines that prepare the next generation of leaders in the industry.
Mission:
The program aims at providing high-level engineering education in communication
systems and networks that uniquely qualifies graduates to apply efficient design
and problem solving techniques in modern communication. The program prepares its
graduates for careers and graduate studies in communication and computer
networked system technologies.
Objectives
After completing this program students will:
-Possess skills and knowledge
necessary for professional practice in communication engineering and networking
-Be able to pursue further formal education
-Be prepared for life-long
professional growth in diverse career paths
-Know and appreciate the technical,
social, economical, environmental ethical, and global aspects of engineering
practice.
