It was a pleasant surprise to win a Moodle Award for the Academic Year 2018-2019. I believe I have saved quite a few trees ever since I started using Moodle and its multiple features. Moodle allows me to run paper-free courses and engage my students more meaningfully than before. My students and I create a plethora of coursework and feedback evidence on Moodle. I have experimented with forums, online quizzes, Turnitin It was a pleasant surprise to win a Moodle Award for the Academic Year 2018-2019. I believe I have saved quite a few trees ever since I started using Moodle and its multiple features. Moodle allows me to run paper-free courses and engage my students more meaningfully than before. My students and I create a plethora of coursework and feedback evidence on Moodle. I have experimented with forums, online quizzes, Turnitin exams, collaborative wikis, and quite recently, the peer review workshop. The best Moodle activity that I would recommend is online grading of assessments using quick mark tools. It is a highly efficient way of assessing, grading and recording students’ work. Another fun activity is a wiki, which reaches out to different learners working in the same context. I advise all faculty members to embrace Moodle to prepare their students for the workplace of the future.

It is indeed a great privilege for me to receive the Moodle Exemplary award this year. Moodle is a platform that brings all the functionality needed for fully online or blended higher education. It delivers a powerful set of learner-centric tools and collaborative learning environments that empower both teaching and learning./p>

Moodle allowed me to use my abilities, knowledge, and interactive communications with students and to monitor the development of the activities carried out by students. It revolutionizes and complements the teaching method joyfully. I would like to extend my deep gratitude and appreciation to the ELC team. I am always impressed by the promptness of ELC in responding to our queries and the ongoing workshops and trainings conducted by them employ us for long life learning.

I will always keep my enthusiasm up in my future work as well. Awards like this are the boosters for personnel like us.

I am using Moodle since 2016, particularly, the Quiz activity for my exams, and the feedback activity for course-exit-survey.

While I am using this software, I have discovered two things: The 1st is the willing and the capabilities of our E-learning staff to help and support quickly and efficiently. The 2nd is the huge capabilities of Moodle, which can be used to enhance the teaching and assessing.

lastly, while we are at the ear of "digitization", some colleagues still reluctant to use the Quiz activity claiming that Moodle did not support the critical thinking/writing capability of the student while taking exams. My personnel use, proven to me that all types of questions can be taken using different question types. For example, Stack types for mathematical questions; essay type(s) can be used for auto marking etc. and more and more examples, through which, the instructor will like/use Moodle, and to believe so, please visit YouTube to see/learn how others are using Moodle extensively and effectively.

Thank you for this great and precious award, I appreciate all the efforts done from LMS coordinators and facilitators to upgrade the system and improve it to be easier for all users. I'm really thankful for all their help and prompt reply to all my inquiries and emails. LMS workshops were very successful to help the users with the system. I believe that connecting with students regularly and daily is one of the success keys for teaching the Architecture design course. LMS is giving me and my students this opportunity to connect, interact and share knowledge. I use LMS to upload all the course materials; photos, videos, case studies to motivate the students in the design process. Besides chats, forums, course exit surveys. I believe that LMS is the only professional channel to connect with my students regularly in all my courses. Connecting with students through LMS regularly is a must in all courses especially the practical ones, and is considered one of the main factors that lead to success in delivering the course.

It gives me immense pleasure writing this testimonial for an amazing and learning experience of Moodle usage at Prince Sultan University (PSU). I started using Moodle from 2014 at PSU and it was my first time experience using it. I struggled a bit in the initial phases to grab the concept of it but this journey went to an award winning experience at PSU. I was awarded as second best user of Moodle at PSU and I will not forget the role and key motivating factor behind it is E-Learning Center (ELC-PSU). I believe ELC enriched a culture of effective utilization of E-Resources including Moodle. The support and guidelines given by ELC in terms of Email, workshops and lecture played a vital role getting the complete concept of Moodle. I also want to acknowledge the role, support and commitment of PSU higher management in developing an effective outcome based learning environment on campus. Keep it up ELC and PSU. Together we can excel.

Wining the first place for LMS MOODLE Award in 2019 is a great distinction in my educational career. This is my third year in a row as a lecturer with the College of Engineering at Prince Sultan University. At first, I was not familiar with using LMS MOODLE. Then, by attending several intensive MOODLE workshops with the E-learning center, it became very easy to use. Moreover, MOODLE has helped me designing my courses weekly topics, lectures, and assignments. Also, with MOODLE I can use different multimedia for teaching and learning methods, by having range of materials to read, topics to search for, discussions to participate in and assessments to complete. Moreover, it gives the opportunity for my students to collaborate and get formative assessments and feedback from me all the time

Using LMS MOODLE has helped me build a strong healthy relationship with trust between me and all of my students. Due to the great communication that you can get with MOODLE. It helps you to contact your students, by delivering your course materials ahead of your class time so the students can prepare. More, it helps to be more specific with the assessment requirements to avoid any confusion and to keep track of your students' submissions to achieve grade equality for everyone. Using MOODLE will make your teaching strategy better as it does for mine.

Criteria And Guidelines

Criteria

  • Candidates for the award must be Full-Time faculty at Prince Sultan University.
  • You are allowed to enter one course only in the awards. - Your other courses will be taken into consideration.
  • Winners are not allowed to apply again.

Guidelines

  • Your course may be in English or Arabic language.
  • Your course must include at least 7 engaging activities (e.g. forums, quizzes, Surveys, chat, calendar,… etc). In addition, the frequency & quality of activity use will be taken into consideration.
  • Your courses will be judged based on how frequent the site was used and the quality of the content.
