Prince Salman Center for Educational Grants (PSCEG), in cooperation with the Deanship of Students Affairs organized on Tuesday 5/5/2009, a lecture entitled (Be an Inventor) delivered by the Saudi inventor Eng. Mohannad Jibreel Abu Dayyah, at PSU's main auditorium.

At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Abdul Qader Al-Khateeb, PSCEG Director, thanked the lecturer and the audience, pointing out that the lecture comes within the framework of the activities provided by PSCEG as a part of a campaign entitled: (EXCELLENCE IS THE ASPIRATION OF THE NOBLE AND THE PURPOSE FOR THE WISE PEOPLE).

Subsequently, Eng. Abu Dayyah started his lecture mentioning that it is a part of the Saudi campaign to spread the culture of invention organized by the 'Saudi Centre for Culture of Invention' to familiarize students of schools and universities with the invention, and to motivate them to uncover their skills and to highlight the invention potential in the areas of technical innovations.

He pointed out that inventors are the most frequently cited in the lives of people. They contribute to the civilization of people and solve their problems. So, their names remain for life, such as Edison and Graham Bell and Newton … etc. The opposite of famous soccer players who are not mentioned after their retirement.

After that Eng. Abu Dayyah went back to speak about the beginning of his life and how he was always trying to learn how electronic devices, like television and radio, work, to the extent that his father called him ‘The Destroyer’ because of devices of the house he opened.

He added that he had dreamed when he was young to be the best man in Saudi and looked forward to be honored by the king himself! He achieved his dream by the honoring he got from King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz after the design of a submarine, named: (Saqer Al-Oroobah), which exceeded the current world record in the field. He urged students to always dream to be the best people and keep their dream alive even if it was changed, recalling the words of the poet, ‘Everyone creates his place in the society, so ask for the highest rank between people.’

Then Eng. Abu Dayyah talked about the tragic car accident which caused him the loss of his eyesight and one of his legs, pointing out that his heart is still dreaming and will continue to do so to the very end of his life. At the end of the lecture, Eng. Abu Dayyah received a lot of audience interventions and prayers for him to return from his treatment journey with eyesight again to continue his inventions.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Ahmad Bin Saleh Al Yamani, PSU's Rector, delivered a letter of thanks to Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Harqan, the (Be an Inventor) campaign's supervisor, for the useful and interesting lecture delivered by Eng. Abu Dayyah to PSU's students.
