Commonly Asked Questions:

1. What is the service hours of library?

- The library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday - Wednesday. If you want to request for library service beyond these hours, you may do so by filing a request addressed to the PSU Central Library Director.

2. How do I find materials in the library?

- PSU Central Library classifies books on the shelves in accordance with the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) System. This is a simplified system that uses ten (10) main classes to classify books/ materials according to their topic. (Click here if you want to view the schedules) In layman's term, one has to do is to know what topic he is going to research, look at the schedules posted on the shelves and check the book spines for call numbers that matches the material one is looking for. Moreover, a card catalog cabinet can be found at the back of the circulation desk which provides a complete description of the book by title/author/subject. If all of these fail, call the librarian's attention. In the future, once an automated system is installed a Google-like search engine will be available to make your search easy.

3. How many books can I borrow?

- For students, three (3) circulation books can be borrowed for two (2) weeks and these can be renewed once provided that there are no other requests on queue. Faculty are allowed to borrow 5 books for the rest of the term, on the condition that they will use the material for classroom use. Admin staff are allowed the same number of books a faculty can borrow but only on a 2-week period. A thorough discussion of borrowing policies can be found at the Policies page.
