The Board of Trustees (BT) of the PSU agrees on
the activation of financial and marketing programs
for girls college. Allowing for non-Saudi students
to benefit from the Prince Salman educational grants
The Board of Trustees of the PSU was held in the
University on Wednesday 30/12/1428 AH 9/1/2008G
under the chairmanship of His Highness Prince Dr.
Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammad Bin Aiaf, the General
Secretary of Riyadh Region; and Chairman of the BT.
This was the first meeting of the academic year
1428/1429, 2007/2008.
The Excellencies members of the BT are: Dr. Abdul
Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Athenian member of the Shura
Council; Secretary General of the Riyadh Charitable
Foundation for Science; and Vice President of the
BT, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Ohali
Deputy-Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education
for educational affairs and the ministry
representative in the Board, Sheikh Abdurrahman bin
Ali Al-Jerisi Chairman; Riyadh Chamber of Commerce
and Industry Board, Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Saif;
director of Hail University, Dr. Abdurrahman bin
Ibrahim Al-Humaid a faculty member of King Saud
University; and member of the municipal council, Dr.
Saud bin Mohammed Al-Nemr a faculty member of King
Saud University, Dr. Khalid Bin Muhammad Al-Taweel;
Director; National Information Center; Ministry of
Interior, Dr. Salman bin Abdullah Al-Sakran; a
faculty member of King Fahd University of Petroleum
and Minerals, Engineer Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Adwan,
Dr. Abdurrahman bin Mohammed Ba-Shikh; a faculty

Arrowaitea; PSU Deputy Manager for Administrative
and Financial Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Hafeeth bin
Mohammed Feda; PSU Deputy Manager for Academic
Affairs, and Dr. Fadia bent Saud Assaleh; PSU
College of girls Dean.
This was said by His Excellency, the PSU Rector and
the BT Secretary-General; Dr. Ahmed Al-Yamani, who
said that the BT members had listened at the
beginning of the meeting to a brief report on the
progress of work at the university including the
statistical indicators, the scientific programs, the
non-academic student’s activities programs, the
community service programs, and programs of the
Prince Salman Centre for Research, in addition to
the structural programs of the university city and
some other steps that had been completed on the road
to the university motto (Excellence in Higher
Education). The BT members were pleased by what they
saw in PSU and highly praised the efforts towards
the development and upgrading of the university in
accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness
Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz; Prince of Riyadh
Region and Chairman of Riyadh Charitable Foundation
for Science, along with persistent follow-up by His
Highness Prince Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammed Bin Aiaf,
Secretary-General of the Riyadh Region and Chairman
of the PSU BT.
After that the BT adopted the previous record of the
meeting held on 1/12/1428 AH - 11/12/2007G, and then
discussed several issues related to PSU work
activities and discussed PSU section’s
recommendations, and took the necessary decisions in
this regard.
The most important decisions taken by the BT were:
• Approval of the names of male graduate students of
the fourth installment; and the names of female
graduate students of the second installment; in the
academic year 1427/1428H – 2007/2008G, which were
(109) students in various disciplines.
• Approval of the names of the candidate students to
obtain scholarships within the Prince Salman
educational grants program as follows:
1- Annexation of nineteen (19) students to the
Kingdom-Wide Excellence Students Grant Program,
which was provided by the Riyadh Charitable
Foundation of Sciences.
2- Granting ten (10) students in accordance with the
old students granting system which was approved by
the BT of the University.
3- Granting six (6) students in accordance with the
new students granting system and according to the
rules of scholarships in the PSU.
The BT also approved the recommendation of the
University Council empowering non-Saudi students to
take advantage of the Prince Salman educational
grants in special cases, but no more than the
proportion of the presence of non-Saudi students
with full payment in the university.
The BT approved, as well, the recommendation of the
University Council on the nomination of some girls
College’s graduates to work as repeaters after
completing formal documentations and finishing
required procedures. The repeaters who have been
approved for appointment are:
Abeer Abdul Aziz Al-Sanad - Computer Sciences.
Princess Ghanim Al-Ghanim - Information Systems.
Nora Mohammad Al-Rayes - Computer Sciences.
Sumaya Saleh Al-Shayea - Translation.
Al-Jawhara Faisal Al-Saud - Computer Linguistics.
Nora Abdullah Al-Fayez - Applied Linguistics.
Jawaher Abdul-Aziz Al-Mudbel - Internal Design.
Dr. Yamani added in his announcement that after
extensive discussions the BT agreed to launch the
Financial and Marketing program in the girl’s
College of Business Administration in accordance
with the following rules:
1. The program of Finance should be under the
umbrella of the Department of Finance and Accounting
in the Business Administration collage.
2. The preparatory year should be the same one given
for the Computer and Information sciences students
in the girl’s College.
3. The program should start with at least 20
students and a maximum of 25 students for each
major.
4. The College of BA is responsible for attracting
faculty members and doing the necessary
arrangements. In case of necessity, they can use the
network television for some courses.
Finally, the BT approved the establishment of an
association of local administration named "Saudi
Society for Local Administration: SSLA". SSLA; based
in PSU; will belong to, and work under the
supervision of, Prince Salman Center for Local
Administration. The most significant contribution of
SSLA will be in achieving the objectives of
cooperation, coordination, and expertise exchange
between the city administration bodies. In addition
to playing a role in the technical advisory body,
SSLA will contribute to the development and issuance
of the related field studies and research, as well
as preparing and holding seminars, workshops, and
training courses in support of the development of
local administration. The BT approved the general
regulating rules for SSLA which will need to get the
formal approval from the Ministry of Higher
Education. It will be activated only after obtaining
the consent order.
