Introduction |
|
The
Department of Interior Design at PSCW offers one
undergraduate programs. The expected duration of each
program is four years. Entry into these two programs is
possible only after the successful completion of the
courses in the orientation year. The main goal of the
orientation year is to improve the student’s oral and
written experience in the English language, to
strengthen the student’s mathematical skills and to
introduce the student to basic computer knowledge and
operation.
The Interior Design program was developed taking into
account the needs of the local community, the
overgrowing need and skills of interior design and the
need of professional and university educated interior
designers. In addition the contents and structures of
many programs in the United States, Canada and the UK
are taken into account, as well as the recommendations
of leading international bodies such as: |
|
- |
International Association of Interior Design (IIDA). |
|
- |
American Society of Interior Design (ASID). |
|
- |
International Facility Management Association (IFMA). |
|
This
program ensures the scientific study of the interior
design subject . They enable the student to acquire the
necessary professional skills in her chosen subject.
Within the framework of the degree courses.. The program
also allows the student to follow a more general
approach within his/her major.

What is Interior Design ?
Interior Design is an Exciting and Expanding Profession. The
Interior designer manipulates space, form, texture, color, and
light to enhance the quality of human life. We spend an
increasing amount of our lives indoors in the built environment.
We wake from a night’s sleep in some form of interior space and
go to learn, work, or play in another space that gives a sense
of purpose to our lives. We only go outdoors to get to the site
of our day’s occupation, but the amount of time spent outdoors
is usually only a fraction of the time spent indoors. Therefore,
the interior space will either enhance the quality of human life
and human health or will not.
The
professional interior designer is responsible for space,
components, elements within the environment built for human
needs. In addition, interior designers are actively responsible
for issues that concern our society, people and the planet we
are living in. On the other hand, comfort, relaxation, beauty
and creativity of any design is a very important responsibility
that a good and professional interior designer must have and
take into consideration when designing. A good interior designer
must have huge commitment to conserving energy, ending
pollution, and recycling |
