The English Department at Prince Sultan University, College for Women is organizing a workshop in order to emphasize the importance of application of linguistics in the real world. With three strong majors – Applied Linguistics, Translation and Computational Linguistics, the department aims to bring together researchers from the region onto a common platform in order to discuss the issues related to theory and practice. The forum has three main goals:

• To highlight the role played by language technology in today’s world;

• To explore challenging areas in Applied Linguistics and Computational Linguistics;

• To exchange ideas and engage in academic dialogue with faculty members from different Saudi universities.
