Dr. Patricia L. Hardré holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Iowa, specializing in Instructional Design & Technology, with minors in Motivation, and Measurement & Evaluation. She is an Associate Professor of Instructional Psychology and Technology at the University of Oklahoma, in Norman. She serves as a trainer and consultant to educational organizations, on topics such as: professional development of teachers, teacher utilization of educational technologies, faculty development through action research, rural education, building educational technology infrastructure and supports, and the professional development of teaching assistants. Her research includes student learning, development, and retention vs. dropout; teacher professional development and strategic practice, school climate and teacher retention; and the nature of faculty work in higher education. She serves in a number of national offices and leadership roles in the American Educational Research Association, National Rural Education Association, and serves on editorial boards and as reviewer for numerous professional journals in education.



Dr. Carrie A. Wachter

Carrie Wachter, Ph.D., NCC, ACS is an Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at Purdue University and an affiliated faculty member of the Purdue Center for Serious Games and Learning in Virtual Environments. Her research areas include professional development of school counselors, collaboration between educational and mental health professionals, serious gaming as a pedagogical tool, and crisis prevention and intervention in educational settings. She is professionally active, with refereed publications and presentations on the national and international levels. She currently served on the editorial review board of the flagship journal for school counselors, Professional School Counseling. Carrie is a regular collaborator with colleagues in a variety of fields, including English Education, Educational Technology, Educational Psychology, and Special Education.


Dr. Melanie Shoffner

Melanie Shoffner is an Assistant Professor of English and Curriculum & Instruction at Purdue University. Her specializations include the use of reflective practice to improve teaching and learning and the preparation of secondary English teachers for issues of practice. She has published articles in Reflective Practice and Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education, with articles forthcoming in respected journals in the field (e.g., Teacher Education Quarterly, Teaching and Teacher Education, English Education). Dr. Shoffner regularly presents at national and international conferences, including National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), Society for Information Technology & Teacher Education (SITE) Conference and National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE).



Dr. Janet Alsup

Janet Alsup is Associate Professor of English Education at Purdue University. Her specialties are teacher education and professional identity development, the teaching of composition and literature in middle and high schools, critical pedagogy, young adult literature, and qualitative and narrative inquiry. She has published two books. The first, co-authored with Dr. Jonathan Bush, is titled But Will It Work With Real Students? Scenarios for Teaching Secondary English Language Arts (NCTE, 2003). Her second book, Teacher Identity Discourses: Negotiating Personal and Professional Spaces (Erlbaum/NCTE), was published in 2006 as part of the NCTE/LEA Research Series in Literacy and Composition. Dr. Alsup regularly presents at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) convention and the Midwest Modern Language Association conference. She has published articles in several major journals in her field, including English Education and the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy. Janet regularly includes innovative teaching practices in her courses, including teacher action research and the use of emerging technologies



Dr. Jennifer Ricahrdson

Jennifer Richardson is an Associate Professor of Educational Technology at Purdue University. Her specializations include distance learning, technology integration, and professional development of higher education faculty and K-12 teachers. She has published in several of the top journals in her field (e.g. American Journal of Distance Education, Educational Technology Research & Development) and is on the editorial board of several top tier journals (Educational Technology Research & Development, International Journal on E-Learning, and Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks). Dr. Richardson regular presents at national and international conferences, including American Educational Research Association, EdMedia and AECT. Jennifer also consults regularly with colleagues and faculty in various disciplines about best practices in integrating technology and designing and implementing distance courses.

Dr. Leni Dam

"Trends and Practices in Teaching and Learning: Focus on Learning rather than Teaching"

In the early seventies, Leni Dam took the first steps towards developing learner autonomy in language teaching and learning in her own classes at secondary school level in Denmark. In 1979, her experiments at school level were combined with a post as educational adviser for in-service teacher training and school development at University College, Copenhagen. The post provided excellent opportunities for implementing the principles of learner autonomy achieved from working with school kids into teacher education, including work with adult immigrants and refugees learning Danish as a second language. From 1993 till 1999 she was co-convenor of the scientific commission of learner autonomy within AILA. During the same years she carried out the LAALE research project (Language Acquisition in an Autonomous Learning Environment) together with Lienhard Legenhausen, Münster University. In 2004, she was awarded an honorary doctor’s degree in pedagogy from Karlstad University, Sweden. In August 2007, she stopped her official duties and is now freelance. Over the years, Leni Dam has published widely and given numerous lectures and workshops in as well as outside Denmark on learner autonomy, teacher education, and school development.

Dr. Sena Maherzi’s

"Teacher’s communicative style and motivation to study English as a foreign language"

Dr. Maherzi is an Assistant Professor in English & Translation Department at Effat College in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She received a B. A. in English from the University of Tunis in 1989, and an M.A. in Translation (French to English) from the University of Tunis in 1991. She obtained an M.A. in Second Language Education at the Faculty of Education of the University of Montreal in 1995, and a Ph. D. in Second Language Education at the Faculty of Education of the University of Montreal in 2000. She worked as a part-time English teacher in two Canadian Language institutes. She worked as an Assistant professor in King Saud University (COLT, Riyadh), and Prince Sultan University (Riyadh) where she received an award for the quality of her teaching. Her main interest is the relationship between motivation and second / foreign language learning based on Deci & Ryan’s (1985) Social Cognitive theory, i.e. the relationship between students’ perceptions of the classroom environment (their teacher), and their motivation (extrinsic, intrinsic, amotivation) to study English as a foreign language. At Effat College, she supervised the first student workshop on tips for successful interviews, compiled a check list for teacher evaluation and a student evaluation scale, as well as a checklist for speeches and oral presentations. She submitted two articles, one in English and one in French to The Canadian modern Language Review. She has started replicating her study to Effat students and has the intention of expanding it to the whole Kingdom.



Dr. Mona Suri

Dr. Mona Suri completed her Graduation, Masters and Doctoral work in Fabric and Apparel Science, from Delhi University, India. She was a Reader in the Department of Fabric & Apparel Science, Lady Irwin College, New Delhi, India. She has a teaching experience of more than nineteen years in teaching graduate and post graduate programs at Delhi University, New Delhi, India. Dr. Suri has been actively involved in research and teaching. She has been a guest faculty at the Fashion Design department at National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi, India. She has authored many research papers, chapters in text books for NCERT, CBSE and modules for International Labour Organisation.

Dr. Mona Suri has guided till date 33 M.Sc. Dissertations, Two Ph.D. students have submitted their thesis to the Delhi University, India and three Ph.D. scholars are presently working in different areas of Textiles and Clothing. She has many publications, presentations and awards to her credit. Her areas of interest are design, fabrics, garment technology, innovations in design and Research methodology. Dr. Mona Suri joined the Royal University for Women, Bahrain in September 2008. She is presently heading the department of Art & Design and is teaching both Foundation and the BA students. She is presently teaching Information & Research, Fashion Design- Concepts & Principles, Fashion Techniques Development, and Applied Design at the graduate level.

Dr Wendy James is a fully certified management accountant and currently works as an associate professor at Zayed University in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Prior to taking up this position Dr James was employed at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, where she was also involved with the Centre of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies. Dr James has a wealth of experience in teaching in both financial and management accounting fields as well as information systems and has taught at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at a number of universities in Queensland, including Griffith University, University of Southern Queensland and Bond University. Dr James has also been involved in a number of management and research positions both in industry and the public sector. Current research interests include: ethics in education, management accounting systems, management control systems, performance management systems, organisational change, public sector financial management and strategic management accounting in the private, public and not for profit sectors.

Dr. Barbara Harold is the Dubai campus Director of the Zayed Institute for Professional Education in the College of Education at Zayed University and has taught in Dubai for almost 8 years. During the last 20 years she has worked at universities in New Zealand, Seattle and the UAE and has presented at conferences in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, UAE and the USA. At the undergraduate level she has taught courses in language curriculum, classroom practice, assessment, and entering the profession. At the graduate level she has taught courses in educational leadership, and school-community relationships. In the UAE she has undertaken professional development workshops and research on the school practicum, mentor teachers, evaluation of teacher performance, and is currently engaged in research on the teaching of reading. Her professional expertise is in the fields of educational leadership, school reform, assessment and evaluation, school-community relationships, teacher professional learning, and qualitative research methods.



Dr. David Lee Keiser

David Lee Keiser, Ph.D. is a Teacher Educator at Montclair State University. Dr. Keiser studies the intersection of contemplation, compassion, and teacher education, and has taught a graduate course, Mindful Teaching, at MSU. He works with the Center for Contemplative Mind in Society and the Garrison Institute on contemplative pedagogy and emotional regulation for teachers. He is a published poet as well as the co-editor of Teacher Education for Democracy and Social Justice (RoutledgeFalmer Press, 2005). She is an international trainer in foreign investments and international contracts and a sworn translator and expert in Tunisian tribunal.
Dr Emna is one of the founders of the Arab League of democracy, and is the member in the Board of trustees .The headquarter is in Sanaa Yemen and its executive board is in Amman, Jordan. .
