Qaseem University Wins SANCAA Cup in Football and King Faisal University Wins SANCAA Cup in Basketball


PSU rector, Dr. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Yamani, presided over the final SANCAA (Saudi Arabian Collegiate Athletics Association) match in which the teams of Al-Qaseem University and Imam Moahmmad bin Saud Islamic University (IMSU) contested on PSU pitch on Thursday May, the 15th.

The two teams played well with a clear spirit of sportsmanship. Ali Al-Harbi from Al-Qaseem University team snatched a beautiful goal at end of the first half. The second half continued without any more goals, but a high-level game was enjoyed by the attending crowds.

After the match, , Ali Al-Mutlag and Abdullah Al-Shlawi, first-level referees, Hasan Al-Asmari and Yahya Al-Qarni, second-level referees, and Ibrahim Al-Jabir, match commentator received their commemorative plaques form Dr Al-Yamani who also handed in a plaque to Mohammad Al-Nawfal, from the referee committee, as a representative of the Saudi Federation. The PSU rector also honoured the MSIU team who won the second place with a silver medal, and AL-Jubail Industrial College players who won the third position with a bronze medal.

The function was attended by Dr. Saad Al-Rwaita, PSU Vice Rector for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Obaid Al-Abdali, Aide to the Rector, Dr. Abdulhamid Al-Abduljabbar, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Yahya Al-Sarhan, Acting Dean of the Business Administration college, Peter Goward, Head of the Physical Education (PE), Steven Kelly, from the PE section, and a number of PSU staff and students. Dr. Yahya Al-Sarhan ahas made remarkable efforts in organising the event.

In their last meeting held at PSU, SANCAA representatives have agreed on setting up a 16-member- SANCAA Board of Directors. The Board comprises Dr. Obaid bin Sa’ad Al-Abdali (from PSU) as Chairman, Dr. Ahmad Al-Ghamdi (from King Saud University) as Vice Chairman, Dr. Yahya bin Naser Al-Sarhan (from PSU) as Secretary General, and a number of teachers from the participating universities as members.
