TAC Council


The TAC Council is the governing body responsible for directing the Translation & Authoring Center’s strategy, operations, academic quality, and alignment with PSU’s institutional goals. The Council ensures that TAC maintains excellence in translation, authorship, grants, training, and community engagement.


Council Composition

As outlined in the bylaws, the TAC Council consists of:

  1. Director of TAC (Chair)
  2. Associate Director
  3. Three faculty members appointed based on experience and relevance
  4. College Dean and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs (approval and oversight roles)

Council members are selected for their expertise, academic contributions, and capacity to support TAC’s mission.


Council Responsibilities

The Council oversees all strategic, academic, and operational aspects of TAC, including:

Strategic Planning & Governance

  • Approving TAC’s annual plans, programs, and policies
  • Ensuring alignment with PSU’s strategic direction
  • Reviewing annual performance reports and achievements

Quality Assurance

  • Monitoring quality of translation, editing, authorship, and publication services
  • Approving evaluation criteria and guidelines for grants, competitions, and awards

Grants & Awards Oversight

  • Reviewing and approving proposals for book authoring and translation grants
  • Overseeing the International Publication Reward
  • Appointing peer reviewers and evaluating outcomes

Competitions & Events

  • Supervising the Regional Inter-University Translation Competition
  • Assigning committees for judging, logistics, and evaluation
  • Reviewing reports and recommendations after each event

Committees & Subunits

  • Forming internal committees aligned with TAC’s organizational structure
  • Approving committee members and overseeing their work

Decision-Making & Meetings

  • Majority voting system as defined in the bylaws
  • Regular meetings throughout the academic year
  • Special meetings when needed for urgent academic or administrative matters
