Prince Sultan University: Driving Sustainability through USGBC Membership and LEED Trainings

Prince Sultan University (PSU) is proud to be a Silver-level member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) since 2016, making it the first regular university in Saudi Arabia and the second in the Middle East to earn this recognition. Over the past nine years, PSU has built the largest community of USGBC-registered members and LEED-certified professionals among universities in the region, showcasing its leadership in sustainable education and green building practices. At PSU, sustainability goes beyond membership. Since 2016, the university has been offering regular LEED credential training programs on campus, equipping students, alumni, faculty, and professionals with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the green building field. To date, hundreds of participants have attended these programs, and many of our students have proudly achieved LEED Green Associate (GA) and LEED Accredited Professional (AP) certifications. This success reflects PSU’s mission to foster career-ready graduates who contribute to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals and global sustainability efforts. Through continuous training, international certification opportunities, and active participation in green building forums, PSU is setting a benchmark for universities in the Middle East and preparing the next generation of leaders in sustainable design and construction.
