Higher Education in Teaching & Learning Certificate Program (HETLCP)

The Higher Education Teaching and Learning Certificate Program (HETLCP) was developed in order to support faculty development and the continuous improvement of the teaching and learning practices at PSU. This program aims to expose faculty members to many aspects, strategies, and newer modes of teaching and learning, and to become more aware of the complexities of “teaching effectiveness,” and of articulating and achieving “Learning Objectives”. It also aims to explore and advance an informed and critical understanding of different scholarly approaches to learning, teaching and assessment practices. The ultimate goal of the program is to provide faculty members with an environment in which to advance innovative and creative approaches to academic practice and to encourage focused and critical reflection on teaching through developing the participants’ ability to critically evaluate their academic practice. Topics covered will include; curriculum design, assessment, reflective teaching, conducting action research, and peer review of teaching among other topics.
