Educational Integration Models

The university presents different approaches to SDG education implementation:

  • Full Curriculum Integration Education is integrated across the full curriculum, meaning SDG principles, concepts, and applications are embedded within existing courses and programs rather than being taught as standalone subjects. This ensures students across all disciplines engage with sustainability thinking relevant to their fields.

  • Mandatory Education for All Students PSU ensures that SDG education, particularly SDG 4 focusing on quality education, is relevant and applicable to all students, with the university following metrics to provide lifelong learning opportunities Times Higher Education. This mandatory approach guarantees that every graduate leaves with foundational knowledge of sustainable development.

  • Optional/Enhanced Education Opportunities Beyond mandatory requirements, students have access to optional deeper engagement opportunities such as the PSU SDG Club, which is the first student SDG club in Saudi Arabia and part of the Center for Sustainability and Climate جامعة الأميرة سلطان, where more than one hundred students have participated in specialized SDG activities.

  • Institutional Infrastructure

    Center for Sustainability and Climate (CSC) The Center coordinates, promotes, and accelerates interdisciplinary research and training on sustainability and climate, transforming commitments into action through effective institutional resource management, innovative teaching and learning, research, and partnerships جامعة الأميرة سلطان.

    Strategic Partnerships PSU has formed strategic partnerships with the United Nations Global Compact to strengthen efforts toward advancing the UN's 2030 Agenda by engaging higher education institutions جامعة الأميرة سلطان, demonstrating commitment beyond campus boundaries.

    Student Engagement and Impact

    Research findings indicate that PSU students demonstrate relatively strong agreement that university facilities, teaching, research, and extracurricular activities enhance their understanding of sustainability concepts, with advanced awareness of SDGs compared to other universities in Saudi Arabia MDPI.

    Leadership Commitment

    University leadership, including President Dr. Ahmed Yamani, has publicly affirmed that "Quality of education is what PSU is all about" and committed to applying UN SDG 2030 in line with Saudi Vision 2030 Times Higher Educationجامعة الأميرة سلطان, with PSU becoming the first Saudi university to pledge net zero carbon emissions by 2060.
