To Build a Compliance Culture

The Compliance and Policies Office at Prince Sultan University, led by Dr. Emna Chikhaoui, recently organized an enlightening workshop titled "Towards Building a Compliance Culture." She was accompanied by her staff. She also mentioned her Compliance Committee members and the Compliance College Representatives. This workshop aimed to emphasize the significance of compliance and foster a culture of integrity within the PSU community. Dr. Chikhaoui, as the Senior Manager, played a pivotal role in guiding participants through the importance of compliance, its benefits, and the steps necessary to establish a compliance culture. Compliance is an essential aspect of any organization or institution, serving as the cornerstone of ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability. It ensures that individuals and entities adhere to laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards governing their operations. Compliance is particularly critical in academic institutions like Prince Sultan University, as it safeguards academic integrity, supports fair practices, and preserves the reputation of the institution. During the session, Dr. Chikhaoui emphasized that compliance is not limited to merely adhering to rules and regulations. Instead, it should be regarded as a shared responsibility for everyone. A strong compliance culture encompasses ethical behavior, respect for policies, and a commitment to upholding the values and principles of the university. Dr. Chikhaoui highlighted the numerous advantages of compliance for both individuals and the university as a whole. These benefits include minimizing legal risks, enhancing reputation, fostering trust, and creating a positive work and learning environment. Dr. Chikhaoui emphasized the importance of clear policies, accessible resources, and ongoing training to ensure that all members of the PSU community are well-informed and equipped to comply with regulations. The workshop also addressed the significance of establishing robust reporting mechanisms to encourage individuals to raise concerns or report potential compliance violations without fear of reprisal. Open channels of communication foster transparency and facilitate the identification and resolution of compliance issues. Under the leadership of Dr. Emna Chikhaoui and the Compliance and Policies Office, Prince Sultan University is well-positioned to continue building a compliance culture that supports its mission and values, while ensuring the long-term success of the institution and the well-being of its community. There was a session of questions and answers. The attendees were very curious to know about the
