Prince Sultan University is the first CarbonNeutral Certified Company in the MENA Region

February 09, 2023

Prince Sultan University has achieved CarbonNeutral® company certification (5000 tonnes CO2e), in accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol, the leading global framework for carbon neutrality.

To achieve CarbonNeutral® certification, Prince Sultan University is working with Climate Impact Partners, specialist in carbon market solutions for climate action, and had an independent assessment of the greenhouse gas emissions produced from 5000 tonnes CO2e covered by certification.

As well as taking actions to reduce its footprint through various internal emission reduction activities, unavoidable emissions have been offset through projects including those supporting Renewable Energy installations.

“We are delighted to work with experts in this sector, Climate Impact Partners. They have over 25 years’ experience running some of the most innovative and largest voluntary carbon offsetting programs in the world. Working with them means all the projects we are supporting are independently verified and have a real and positive impact on the climate.” Dr. Ahmed Yamani, President, Prince Sultan University.

“We are proud to partner with Climate Impact Partners, given their significant commitments on sustainability. This partnership aligns with our strong commitment to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Saudi Vision 2030. We’re delighted to combat sustainability challenges and accomplish SDG 2030.” Professor Mohammad Nurunnabi, Director, Center for Sustainability and Climate.
