The Student Activity
Committee in the Communications and Networks Department, College of
Engineering, organized an educational field trip to Saudi Telecom Company (STC)
on Sunday, 25 January 2026, in collaboration with the Cooperative Training
Center at Prince Sultan University.
The objective of the
visit was to introduce students to STC’s strategic transformation beyond its
traditional role as a telecommunications provider, as well as to enhance their
understanding of modern communication technologies and large-scale digital infrastructure.
During the visit, students attended presentations on the evolution of mobile
communications and STC’s expanding role across multiple technology sectors.
The program also
included guided tours of key operational facilities, including the Monitoring
Department, data centers with advanced power and cooling systems, and the
Network Operations Center (NOC). These visits provided students with valuable
exposure to real-world engineering environments and practical insight into
network management and data infrastructure operations.
The committee chair,
Dr. Mourad Rizk, extends his sincere appreciation to Saudi Telecom Company
(STC) for their warm hospitality, professional engagement, and generous support
in hosting this educational visit. He also thanks all faculty members and students
whose participation contributed to the success of the trip.
This visit comes as part of the Student Activity Committee’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with leading industry partners, bridge the gap between academic studies and industrial practice, and prepare students for a deeper understanding of modern engineering and communication technologies.
